Why independent schools choose IMP ICFP
Most ICFP tools sit next to the budget. IMP ICFP sits inside it.
Most independent schools don’t run ICFP today. Where it exists, it’s rare. IMP ICFP changes that, connecting curriculum, staffing and finance in one place. It answers the fundamental question: how many lessons do we want to run, by subject, year group and school, and have we got the teaching capacity to deliver them? Change a curriculum decision, and your budget moves with it.
100%
Supporting independent schools across the UK.
Independent schools of every shape and size plan and run their finances on IMP.
Curriculum planning without a clear financial picture. That's the reality for most independent schools.
For many independent schools, a structured curriculum planning process doesn’t yet exist. Staffing decisions get made without a clear view of what the curriculum actually demands. IMP ICFP gives you that view.
It brings curriculum and finance into one shared, forward-looking view, so bursars, finance directors and curriculum leaders work from the same numbers, whether you run a single school or a group.
And because no two independent schools are alike, whether a prep balancing specialist and part-time staff, a senior with option blocks and sixth form pathways, or an all-through juggling both, IMP ICFP flexes around how your school actually operates, not the other way round.

SCHOOL PLANNING
Curriculum and budget in step.
Group-wide standardisation, school-level flexibility
For independent school groups, get clean, like-for-like comparisons across every school without forcing individual schools to change how they organise their curriculum. IMP ICFP applies standard subject codes and group-level settings in the background. Each school continues to plan using its own timetable structures, while leadership gets the data it needs.
Multi-year strategic planning
Pupil numbers drive everything: fee income, staffing, curriculum demand. In IMP, they live once, so your curriculum, staffing and budget all move in step against them. Up to five years out, future years build themselves as your assumptions change, essential for planning fee structures and staffing well in advance.
One staffing dataset
Everyone works from a single view of staffing shared between finance and curriculum leaders. No duplication, no conflicting versions and no version chasing. Just one trusted dataset across every department and cost centre.
REPORTING AND INSIGHT
One view of everything.
Bridge the gap between education and finance
Stop the debate over whose data is correct. Shared insight brings your bursar, finance director and curriculum leaders together to work toward one goal: designing the best curriculum you can afford.
Evidence strategic decisions
Get a clear view of how people, time and money are deployed across your school. Whether it's teaching, leadership or non-teaching support, make sure every pound is working as hard as it should.
Designed for independent school structures
IMP ICFP adapts to your school's structure. It includes detailed education support analysis, helping you understand how roles beyond teaching contribute to delivery, particularly valuable for prep schools and smaller settings where support roles play a significant part in delivering the curriculum.

IMP ICFPFAQs.
Yes. IMP ICFP draws staffing directly from IMP Planner, so curriculum and finance leads are always working from the most recent staffing profile when allocating curriculum resource and planning budgets for the term and year ahead.
Yes. Our ICFP reporting suite provides powerful and insightful measures that can be analysed and compared across your group, even when subjects and/or timetable definitions vary by school. To do this, it uses standardised metrics and groups schools with similar characteristics.
IMP ICFP is flexible enough to accommodate all independent school types including senior schools, prep schools, nurseries and all-through schools. If you have specific requirements, just ask us how we can help.
With the ability to allocate staff to an unlimited number of non-contact activities, we've removed the vague old approach to understanding the use of this time. With IMP ICFP, you can quickly understand the cost of each non-contact activity and how this is split between leadership, teaching and non-teaching staff.
You can benchmark against similar schools within your own group and against aspirational targets you define. All standardised KPIs are RAG rated using a system you control, so you can see at a glance where to focus the conversation.
Absolutely. We recognise that off-payroll staff can and probably will deliver part of the curriculum. Curriculum requirements can be allocated against external contractors (e.g. sports coaches or peripatetic music teachers). Their costs will then be included in reporting and benchmarking analysis, giving you a truer picture of what's going on in your school.
