Why FE colleges choose IMP ICFP

Most ICFP tools sit next to the budget. IMP ICFP sits inside it.

IMP ICFP connects curriculum, staffing and finance across your college. It answers the fundamental question: how many lessons do we want to run, by curriculum area, learner group and campus, and have we got the teaching capacity to deliver them? It all sits in one place. Change a curriculum decision, and your budget moves with it

Most ICFP still runs in spreadsheets. Then leaves you reconciling two versions that never quite match.

Curriculum and finance plans that live in different places pull decisions in different directions across your campuses and curriculum areas. IMP ICFP brings them together, replacing disconnected spreadsheets and conflicting plans with one shared, forward-looking view.

IMP ICFP connects teaching plans, staffing data and financial forecasts in one place. Curriculum managers and finance leaders work from the same numbers, whether you operate across one site or multiple campuses.

FE provision isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is IMP ICFP. Whether you run A-levels, T-levels, apprenticeships, adult learning or HE provision, across one campus or several, IMP ICFP flexes around how your college actually operates, not the other way round.

COLLEGE PLANNING

Curriculum and budget in step.

College-wide standardisation, department flexibility

Gain clean, like-for-like comparisons across your college and departments without forcing curriculum areas to change how they organise their planning. IMP ICFP applies standard subject codes and college-level settings in the background. Curriculum teams continue to plan using their own structures, while you get the data you need.

Multi-year strategic planning

Learner numbers are the single biggest driver of your plan, and they're already maintained in IMP to drive your funding calculations. Model them once, and your curriculum, staffing and budget all move in step. Up to five years out, future years build themselves, critical for FE colleges navigating shifting funding allocations.

One staffing dataset

Everyone works from a single view of staffing shared between finance and curriculum managers. No duplication, no conflicting versions and no version chasing. Just one trusted dataset across every campus, curriculum area and cost centre.

REPORTING AND INSIGHT

One view of everything.

Bridge the gap between education and finance

Stop the debate over whose data is correct. Shared insight brings curriculum managers and finance leaders together to work toward one goal: designing the best curriculum you can afford.

Evidence strategic decisions

Get a clear view of how people, time and money are deployed across your college. Whether it's teaching, leadership or non-teaching support, make sure every pound is working as hard as it should, across every campus and curriculum area.

Designed for FE college structures

IMP ICFP adapts to the complexity of FE delivery. It includes detailed education support analysis, helping you understand how roles beyond teaching contribute to delivery across diverse curriculum areas and learner cohorts.

Understand the why
★★★★★
"ICFP is important for understanding the context, ethos and staffing model in any one school – essentially 'why' it is like that, for example deprivation and SEND factors."

A spotlight on inconsistency
★★★★★
"It shines a spotlight on where this may not be the case, and ensures there are no inconsistencies that can't be explained."

Plan future years
★★★★★
"In secondary it very much allows us to look across the curriculum areas. It's bringing through all the contract information and it's allowing us to look at where we may have spare capacity and where we may not. So we can plan for future academic years."

A different way of working
★★★★★
"It has already given us a different way of working and, in turn, a different approach to conversations with Principals."

Kate Davison, CFO
Leodis Academies Trust
“We built IMP ICFP alongside pilot trusts who wanted curriculum and finance in one conversation. Nowhere does that conversation matter more than FE, where provision shifts year to year and staffing has to follow. We would love your college to help us build ICFP for the sector.”

IMP ICFPFAQs.

Yes. IMP ICFP draws staffing directly from IMP Planner, so curriculum managers and finance leads are always working from the most recent staffing profile when allocating curriculum resource and planning budgets across your campuses for the term and year ahead.

Yes. Our ICFP reporting suite provides powerful and insightful measures that can be analysed and compared across your college, even when subject definitions and timetable structures vary by campus or curriculum area. To do this, it uses standardised metrics and groups areas with similar characteristics.

IMP ICFP is flexible enough to accommodate the full range of FE provision. If you have specific requirements, just ask us how we can help.

With the ability to allocate staff to an unlimited number of non-contact activities, we've removed the vague old approach to understanding the use of this time. With IMP ICFP, you can quickly understand the cost of each non-contact activity and how this is split between leadership, teaching and non-teaching staff across your college.

You can benchmark across curriculum areas and campuses within your college and against aspirational targets you define. All standardised KPIs are RAG rated using a system you control, so you can see at a glance where to focus the conversation.

Absolutely. We recognise that off-payroll staff can and probably will deliver part of the curriculum. Curriculum requirements can be allocated against external contractors (e.g. industry specialists or peripatetic tutors). Their costs will then be included in reporting and benchmarking analysis, giving you a truer picture of delivery costs across your college.
